This Canadian fine artist was born in 1956 to Canadian Air Force officer Alex Corcoran and wife Jane (Phinney), Randy gas spent much of his life traveling between stays in the beautiful seaside town of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. He felt an early urge to create with his hands and sharp eyes trailing his maritime carpenter/carver cousins. Following four years at Nova Scotia Teachers College and Mount Saint Vincent University in 1989, the Pacific Northwest coast became home for two years where Randy taught native North Americans and was seriously influenced by their art. During the summers of 1984-89, he was very busy as an actor/facilities manager aboard the M.V. Kipawo helping to build The Ship's Company Theatre (Parrsboro) during its formative years. In 1994, the foghorns of home beckoned once more and he decided to settle there while opening a retail/guided adventure business. The world's highest tides on the Bay of Fundy are a source of both materials and inspiration for this marine captain turned geologist turned artist. Aside from gathering crystals and fossils, environmental concerns and fishing are among his many passions.
